Sensata Technologies, Inc. Assistant General Counsel - US Department Manager in Attleboro, Massachusetts
As a key member of our law department, this role will report to our VP General Counsel, will manage the Attleboro office of the Law Department which includes 3 attorneys, 1 contract manager, and 2 admins, and will be responsible for supporting our organization on a wide range of legal matters. Individual will also work with the General Counsel on specific projects.
Manage the work of Attleboro legal team, and coordinate with our offices in Shanghai (Asia region) and Antrim (Europe region) on global matters.
Provide assistance in a wide range of legal areas, which could include acquisitions, corporate governance matters, trade compliance and regulatory matters, litigation, employment matters, real estate, environmental matters, and complex contracts with customers and suppliers.
Draft, review and negotiate domestic and some international contracts (including customer and supplier agreements, software licensing, IT services agreements, non-disclosure agreements etc.)
Work alongside employees in different business units, including Engineering, Marketing, Sales, Human Resources, Facilities, Finance and IT.
Motivation to learn the various aspects of the General Counsel’s role and work with General Counsel in addition to their regular duties.
Manage various projects and deadlines
Advise business leaders on contract status, legal risks and business terms of various deals
Research legal issues impacting the organization
Keep up to date on legislative changes that may affect the company
Develop and maintain positive working relationships with the legal team and other departments
JD from accredited law school
15+ years of experience in-house or relevant law firm experience
Experience with publicly-traded companies as in-house counsel or law firm advisor
Prior experience managing attorneys and other legal professionals, preferably as a General Counsel or Assistant General Counsel of a law department
Member of state bar
Interpersonal skills necessary to effectively communicate over the phone, through email, and in person with a variety of individuals at all technical and management levels
Occasional domestic and/or international travel may be required
Strong desire and ability to effectively operate in a global environment with diverse cultures
Accountability for accurate, high quality work product
Superior communication skills, both written and verbal
Strong organization skills with an ability to learn and multi-task
Ability to work hard as part of team
